Hong Kong Sales In March and June

The next Hong Kong International Sale is set for Friday March 16 and will be the first of two sales to be hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club in both 2018 and 2019.

The March sale is expected to feature 28 lots purchased and pre-trained by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Amongst the scheduled lots available to eligible permit holders is an Irish-bred full-brother to multiple G1-winning sprinter Slade Power (Dutch Art ex Girl Power) and a gelded son of Holy Roman Emperor (ex Ysoldina) which is a half-brother to Epsom Derby winner Wings Of Eagles.

Breeze-ups for the March HKIS will be conducted on Saturday March 10.

The second HKIS for 2018 is scheduled for Friday June 15 and will offer approximately 20 additional lots. Details of the lots available will be revealed in May.

Anthony Kelly, Executive Director, Racing Business and Operations for the HKJC, said: “Horse ownership in Hong Kong is more popular than ever, with the average waiting period for a permit at approximately four years.

“With the opening of the Conghua Training Centre in August, we have the opportunity to expand the horse population and are pleased to offer two events from which our owners can source horses purchased and pre-trained by the Club.”

Both HKIS sales in March and June will be held in the parade ring at Sha Tin in an evening format, preceded by a cocktail reception.
