R6 FLEMINGTON 25 April 2019
Vrc St Leger 3 , 2800m
Race Synopsis: Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained three-year-old gelding Transact staged a solid staying performance in recording his first stakes success here, his third win from 11 starts. He went to the front and then travelled along comfortably at a reasonable pace under Luke Currie before getting a break on turning for home. He then fought back gamely to score a good win, running the 2800m out well. Godolphin's filly Rock Dove raced in fifth place, moved up at the home turn, went to second at the 200m and steadily made ground, getting to within a neck on the winner at the post. American In Paris was a handy third from his inside barrier (1), went to second on straightening and kept battling on to take the minor placing. The favourite Stars Of Carrum raced back in tenth place, made a wide move nearing the home turn, got to sixth at the 200m and kept making ground, without threatening, for (1.3 lengths) fourth.
