VRC Sires – Vinrock
Another impressive win from Vinrock, running to 109 on the RAS ratings in the Sires Produce Stakes. The debut win was visually impressive albeit the time was nothing special, but this is a big jump from his 93 win at Pakenhan.
A rating of 109 stacks up well from a historical standpoint. It's the exact same rating Traffic Warden ran to last year, and only four horses since 2000 have run a better rating to win the Sires.
That list is very clearly topped by All Too Hard who went 118 in his four length win, while recent winners include Veight (106), Let'srollthedice (101), Lightsaber (106) and Lunar Fox (104).
With the two-year-old scene in Sydney still looking thin, Vinrock can be very competitive in the Sires and Champagne.

All-Star Mile – Tom Kitten
Tom Kitten ran to a new peak to win the All-Star Mile over a game Mr Brightside. He's run to 124, up from 121 first-up when unlucky and was given a great ride here to get to the outside and be close enough to Mr Brightside who was probably left a touch too long when keeping Another Wil in a pocket.
The time figure here is very slow for this level of horse, but that said, one of Mr Brightside's peak wins in the 2023 Makybe Diva Stakes was in an almost identical pace scenario.
Tactically I think trying to keep Another Wil in a pocket was the right move but Ben Melham aboard Tom Kitten was acutely aware of this and rode a great race. Maybe if Williams goes a bit earlier he wins but it's hard to be critical given how the first 1200m worked out perfectly.
Hong Kong next for Mr B, and it'll be interesting to see his opposition. If Voyage Bubble comes back to the mile, he's the horse to beat having gone 126-126-127 at his past three, which Mr B hasn't quite run to.

Kewney Stakes – Treasurethe Moment
Another dominant win from this filly to take the Kewney Stakes and run to a new career peak rating of 115 on the RAS scale, backed up by a great time figure with the tearaway leader.
If there was a knock on Treasurethe Moment it was that she hadn't really seen a strongly run race yet but class well and truly shone through here and ticked that box with ease.
Only Special Harmony (116) in 2004 has run a better rating in the Kewney Stakes. That filly was also an Oaks winner who won the Autumn Stakes, Angus Armanasco, Kewney, Moonee Valley Oaks (Fillies Classic) and Vinery in the Autumn before taking on the boys in the Australian Derby, starting favourite and finishing sixth to Starcraft.
The Vinery looks at her mercy and although I think she's more of a 1600m, maybe 2000m horse in the future, she might just have too much class again in the ATC Oaks.

Newmarket – Joliestar
Dominant win in the Newmarket from Joliestar who exploded down the straight to win impressively off an even tempo. She's run to 122 at Racing & Sports which is a new peak, up from 120 when the won the Show County so impressively first-up last time in.
In terms of Australian sprinters, this is close to the best we've got at the moment. Bella Nipotina is rated 123 so just ever so slightly ahead of Joliestar, but possibly won't be seen in the Autumn and targeted to Brisbane instead.
Jimmysstar went 121 with a bullet behind him in the Oakleigh Plate and that really looks the top two at the moment, with the big-name sprinters in the Canterbury Stakes not really putting their hand up.
Joliestar is now favourite for the T J Smith Stakes which I think is probably fair enough.
