Saturday, 15 March 2025: Cam Hill has claimed his maiden Supercars Championship race win for Dabble Racing on Friday while Nick Percat made it a Matt Stone Racing 1-2 finish on the podium during Australian Grand Prix week at Albert Park.
Second on the grid, a strong start allowed Hill to edge past polesitter Broc Feeney into the first turn and from there was able to maintain the lead throughout.
After a breakout 2024 season where he finished just outside the Top 10 in the overall standings, Friday marked Hill's maiden Supercars Championship victory and has moved into ninth on the overall standings for season 2025. The win came fresh off Hill's first ever Top 3 finish the day prior in the first Albert Park SuperSprint.
"I've been working for this a long time," Hill said.
"I just had a good feeling about today. I was so nervous before the race because I recognised the fact that if we could get off the line we could get the win today.
"I just made it my focus to try to get to the first corner before Broc Feeney."
To make Hill's strong start all the more sweeter was the fact teammate Nick Percat was also able to pass Feeney early into second.
"We sort of discussed a lot of different hypothetical situations before the race, because obviously we were starting two and three," Hill said.
"We probably spoke about more scenarios where we were the second and third car on the road, but we did briefly touch on what we would do if we were one and two, and it just went perfectly to plan."
While the safety car was required not long after as contact at turn 5 between Ryan Wood and Jack Le Brocq led to the latter hitting a wall, the second Supercars Championship race at Albert Park resulted in a relatively uneventful quinella for Matt Stone Racing.
Cam Hill (
Dabble Racing) took out the event by just under six tenths of a second ahead of Nick Percat (Team Bendix Racing).
The Ampol Red Bull Racing duo of Will Brown and Broc Feeney finished third and fourth respectively.
The Hill/Percat 1-2 on Friday returned 144 points for the Matt Stone Racing who now sit fifth in the team standings.
"To get maximum points for the whole of MSR is amazing," Percat said.
"For Matt (Stone), he has worked crazy hard over the years to get to a point with this team and I think Gen3 has been really good for him.
"Obviously it was a really hard slog when he first started the MSR thing (Matt Stone Racing) but now he has got two really good cars, fast drivers (and) a great team."
Matt Stone Racing will be chasing further success across the remaining two Supercars Championship events at Albert Park over March 16 & 17 before next month's ITM Taupo Super 440 in New Zealand.
