Saturday, 3 May 2025: Sunday thoroughbred racing is on the synthetic in Devonport, and eight races are scheduled.
 | Racecourse : Devonport (Australia) | |
|
The first of the day is set for 12:00.
R1 Ladbrokes Form Genius 2yo Maiden, 1150m
There is good depth to the form around
Celestial Glow
(5) and she is clearly the one to beat. First time on the synthetic is the only query with her. ROUNDLE PARK (3) is one of 5 first-starters lining up. He trialled nicely here 10-days ago and ran the fastest time for the morning. JENNI THE CAT (6) is another of the debutants that has trialled well and commands respect whilst ONLYFORAMINUTE (1) has drawn out but also looks to have his share of ability.
R2 Goodstone Group Maiden, 1150m
Skelmorlie
(5) is having her first local start for the Trinder camp. She's been placed twice on the mainland. Profiles as a horse that may need further than the 1150m but respect any market confidence. EXPOSTAR (1) resumes off a long break. He was never in the hunt on debut after getting well back but there's been a stack of winning form out of that race. VIXEN'S MOON (7) is the pick of the 3 debutants. She was hardly tested winning her trial. From her good gate she looks hard to beat. GEEGEE AUNTY JESS (3) was placed first up over 1009m and will strip fitter. Has first 4 claims but happy to risk from a win perspective. VANSITTART (6) is another worth including in exotics.
R3 Tasmanian Horse Transport Class 1 Handicap, 1150m
Platinum Reggae
(5) was impressive winning here on Easter Monday and there looks to be more wins in store for this mare. The wide gate isn't ideal but it's a small field and she shouldn't settle too far back. RED FOX (6) was heavily backed first up and hit the line strongly over the 1009m. He looks well placed stepping out to the 1150m and from barrier 2 he can lead these and will take catching. COOL CONQUEST (2) is another that will appreciate the 1150m. She found them a bit too sharp resuming. BILLIE THE GREAT (7) could be a sharp improver returning to the synthetic and back to this trip. She goes well here. GETCHA GROOVE ON (3) finished alongside Red Fox at her latest off a wide run. Goes in first 4's but doubt she can win.
R4 Kevin Sharkie Maiden/class 1, 1650m
Mohnar
(8) looks set to peak third run back at 1600m and should take a power of beating from a good gate. He was no match at all for Rich Glow at Launceston but he put a good gap on the rest of the field. Third-placed in that race was THIN RED LINE (4) who comes under notice with a synthetic win to his name in Victoria. LEO DAVINCI (6) had no hope of reeling in the leader last start given the lack of tempo and is another that should relish getting out in distance. SMART ARTIE (3) won a moderate maiden two starts back and although not far away at his latest was given every possible chance. He's honest but place claims preferred. IBUTHO (1) next best.
R5 Stall Gate Kiosk Class 1 Handicap, 1350m
Bayside
(1) was allowed to dictate terms on debut and was far too good for his opposition winning by a big margin. This is clearly a harder race but have to respect again. MEGA MIC (3) will be toughest to beat. He gave a good account of himself in Class 2 company at his latest. DYNAMIC DEEL (7) is first up and liked the way he trialled here recently. He's a winner this track and trip. EARENDEL (2) never threatened resuming but is capable of better around here from a good draw. RED ROWIE (4) wasn't disgraced in a harder race last start and is worth including in first 4's. STAR WALKIN' (5) is fresh off a maiden win against lesser opposition but has upside.
R6 The Stables At Spreyton Class 4, 1350m
Spring Bean
(3) was impressive winning first up on Easter Monday. He had his rivals covered a long way out and looks set for a very good preparation. BLOOMTIME (4) raced below expectation resuming but in fairness she didn't have a lot of luck at a crucial stage of the race. Her beaten margin was a bit unfair. KIREINA MARUBRAH (5) had a forgive run last start. She looks the logical leader and given the way the track played last meeting she has to be included. GALLANT WARRIORS (1) is more than capable on his day but hasn't won for a while. GUNSHIP (2) is racing consistently and draws for a good run again but rises sharply in weight on last start.
R7 Dean Walker Designs Bm60 Handicap, 1009m
Cool Heart
(8) has been racing well since arriving from Victoria and broke through for a well- deserved win at Hobart. The winning margin was only narrow but it would've been greater if she'd seen daylight sooner. There's a stack of speed on paper in this race so she should get tempo to suit. PERIWINKLE (5) has found only one better at both starts this time and this is easier than last start. MISS KEEDS (10) logically has a case. She knocked off Periwinkle first up. VOLKANOVSKI (9) has a real liking for the synthetic and always has to be respected. THOROS OF MYR (3) has been off the scene for 10-11 months and resumes without a public trial. He's unbeaten this track and trip. Respect any market confidence. WHEELING (2) always makes his own luck but his synthetic record leaves a lot to be desired.
R8 Torque Gear For Guys Bm66 Handicap, 1880m
Es And Es
(1) is having a great preparation with 3 wins under his belt from 7 starts this time in. Blinkers going on four starts ago, getting out in trip and the ability to race handier have been the key. CHICANE (3) finished just out of the placings here on Easter Monday but he had no luck in the early stages of that race and that proved to be telling late. Just needs even luck this time around and he'll go close. AL MAXIMUS (4) is fit and in form and races well here whilst FASHION FOX (6) has similar form-lines. MUSCLE UP (2) is on trial at this trip but it just might suit him.
